Lusaka – Vodafone Zambia has today launched its 4G TD-LTE high-speed data services. With an initial investment of approximately US$40 million in the deployment of its network, Vodafone Zambia’s advanced 4G high-speed data services are initially available in Lusaka and the Copperbelt namely Ndola, Kitwe, and Chingola, with plans to expand its 4G footprint to other towns.

Vodafone Zambia is a Partnership Market of the global telecommunication group Vodafone which has mobile operations in 26 countries and partners with mobile networks in 58 other countries. It also has the largest footprint of 4G networks across Europe.

As part of its launch proposition, Vodafone Zambia has revealed its 4G special offer that gives customers a special data deal, a first in the Zambian market. This unique offer that was launched on 3rd June and was only available for a limited period saw close to 100,000 customers pre-sign up on the network over a period of 3 days. The special deal gives customers who referred three friends/family to join the network an additional 2GB for life. In addition, Vodafone Zambia’s prices for monthly data bundles range from an affordable K185 for 2GB to K250 for 10GB, a sheer winning price for customers who can now enjoy unlimited downloads, surfing, and streaming at great speeds.

“We are delighted to launch our services in Zambia, which marks the beginning of a new revolution in the provision of data services in the ICT sector. In line with our vision of becoming the number 1 next generation operator in the country, we are bringing to the market innovative products and services that will enable our customers to experience global 4G services as well as the uniqueness of Vodafone Zambia services,” said Vodafone Zambia Chief Executive Officer Lars Stork.

Stork further said that “Vodafone Zambia services are designed for individual users, small to medium business as well as large corporates that desire reliable, well priced fast connections. He further said that the new offers on the market are in line with Vodafone’s promise of delivering worry-free solutions to customers.

Vodafone Zambia has 11 stores and kiosks spread in Lusaka and Copperbelt bolstered by a network of distributors and retailers offering a range of 4G handsets and devices. The stores that are situated in institutions of higher learning such as ZCAS, UNILUS, NIPA, Evelyn Hone, and ZIBSIP, as well as selected shopping malls, bring a different shopping experience for communication services in Zambia, by giving customers the chance to have the full in-store 4G experience.

Vodafone Zambia comes onto the market with solutions that provide customers with the convenience to be connected on the go without worrying about their bundles depleting. Some of these innovations that are all first on the Zambian market include:

  • Multi Data SIM offer allows customers to purchase two additional Data SIM cards that are linked to a main SIM card. Customers are able to purchase Data bundles for the main SIM card and have the two additional Data SIM cards in different devices whilst using data from the same bundle.
  • My Vodafone App gives customers the flexibility to manage their account. They can top- up, track usage, purchase data bundles using a voucher, Debit or Credit card. Customers can download and use the app for free on the network.
  •  Vodafone Chat+ enables customers to stay in touch with family and friends by making free audio in HD quality and messaging on the Vodafone network with anyone who has downloaded the app.
  • Vodafone Zambia’s worry free solution, gives customers complete sight of their usage by sending them notifications before their bundle runs out. When a customer’s bundle depletes, they are notified whether they would like to continue browsing on Pay As You Go or purchase a new bundle. This eliminates the situation of customers’ transition unknowingly and browse from their main account thereby depleting funds on their account

Furthermore, Vodafone Zambia has also announced the launch of its unique student university programme and E-learning portal that enhance learning and growth opportunities in Zambia. Currently Vodafone has employed university graduates as part of its Graduate training programme who represent 40 per cent of its workforce as well as onboarding approximately 200 brand ambassadors from Universities and colleges, in line with its goal of making a meaning contribution to the growth of young people by providing jobs and opportunities.
